About the laboratory

Our herbarium (OSA) houses approximately 350,000 vascular plant, bryophyte, algal, lichen and fungal specimens. The collections are worldwide in scope, with a focus on the Kinki district and the neighboring areas in Japan.
Vascular plant specimens collected in the Kinki district are cited to several red data books as well as many other publications. The bryophyte collection is one of the most important in Japan.
