About the laboratory
The paleontological collections contain many specimens of Quaternary invertebrate fossils from understrata of Osaka plain. That consist of rich molluscan fossils and a few fossils of other non-backbone animals, e.g. crustacean, echinderms . Fossil plant collections contain leaves, seeds, fruits and other remains from Quaternary peaty clay and sand, and also contain the recent and the fossil pollen grains from various localities in Japan.
The geological collections consist of many drill core specimens mainly sites in the Osaka City and replicas of significant outcrop for various geological phenomena. These collections are very useful for research works for the nature of ancient Osaka.
