@@Collections of living vertebrates and invertebrates except for insects and arachnids are housed in the laboratory of Zoology. These collections, which now number about 90,000 (lots), are registered under the acronym of OMNH and continue to grow through field activities of the museum staffs and associates.
@@Specimens of invertebrates, fishes, amphibians and reptiles are preserved in the ethanol, and those of birds and mammals are mostly skins or bones. These are substantial and well used in the various museum activities and researches. Most specimens are collected throughout Japan after 1950's. Some are from foreign countries.
